Question: Who is the real founder of Longwood?

One of the earliest Longwood settlers was Tennessean John Neill Searcy, who arrived by steamer in Sanford on March 23, 1873. Arriving by steamer just a few months after Searcy, Bostonian entrepreneur Edward Warren Henck, began his homestead homestead south of what today is Myrtle Lake. The more colorful Peter Demens, a count in exile from from Czarist Russia, came to Longwood in 1875 .
