The Historic District in downtown Longwood has a very impressive collection of well-maintained old buildings from the 1880-1930. They represent various architectural styles and eras. We have compiled some rather detailed histories of many of them and stubs for some of the others with less known pasts.
OUR BOOK: Footprints in the Sands of Longwood
This book was compiled by members of the Longwood Historical Society. While not a scholarly effort, it compiles a list of short stories researched or retold by longtime residents of Longwood, Seminole County, Florida. If you are interested in local history, this is a great place to start!

Jim Robison Collection
One of the most prolific local history writers in the Orlando area is Jim Robison. He is a longtime member of the Society and contributed articles to the Orlando Sentinel from the 1980s through the 2000s.
Outside the District
There are plenty more historic stories around Longwood that don't happen to fall into the confines of the recognized historic district. Here we will highlight more stories of places in the greater Longwood area.
